Katie Riesner is raising £1,000 for Alzheimer's Society
About
My Grandad who had been diagnosed with dementia passed away recently and so I am hoping to shave my head in memory of him. I was already planning to do this before he passed and I have wanted to do it since I was 8 as I know that I would be able to raise a lot of money for my chosen charity. The charity I have chosen is The Alzheimer's society and I have chosen this charity as they were able to help my family as my Nanna was able to learn more about the disease through their "Dementia Friends" workshop. I will also be donating my hair to a wig making charity who will turn my hair into a wig that can be used by people undergoing chemotherapy or going through diseases in which their hair falls out. This will be a great help to them as it will make them feel more confident about themselves and as my hair is quite thick and long, it is perfect to make into a wig. I will put a video on YouTube explaining my plans just before I announce it to others and also will release a video afterwards of me having my head shaved. It will be happening on the 25th July however I will happily accept donations before and after then. In my first day, I raised £160 in person via sponsor forms. I have now raised over £400 in this way and so am £400 off my goal as of Sunday 24th May 2015 Any donations big or small will mean the world to me Thank you
