Max's Trust was set up to raise awareness of anorectal malformation, in memory of my friends' gorgeous little Boy. Max was born with an anorectal malformation (ARM) which affects 1 in 5000 births. ARM covers a number of conditions - in Max’s case it meant he was born without a bottom hole and needed 3 surgeries by the time he was 8 months old, the first being when he was 1 day old. He had a stoma for 8 months too. At 17 months old he died very suddenly and unexpectedly of sepsis (10 hours from the first sign of illness) which was unrelated to his anorectal malformation. His parents set up Max's Trust to raise awareness of and support those with ARM as there has previously been little or no support in the UK at all.
