Story

The Friends of St Cross supports the Hospital of St Cross and the NHS Community Service in Rugby. We were founded in 1955 and have spent over £4m on equipment and support for projects which improve the patient experience or brings services closer to the people of Rugby and the surrounding area. The charity is operated entirely by volunteers as we have no paid staff. Our administration costs are kept under tight control and are funded from earned income. We have over 100 volunteers who provide a range of voluntary activities in support of the staff in the Hospital of St Cross. We have been honoured with the Queens Award for Voluntary Service, an Award from the High Sheriff of Warwickshire, an Outstanding Service and Care Award from the University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust (UHCW) and several Pride of Rugby Awards.
