The T.E.A. Project's little van has served us tirelessly over the years. Traveling all over Sri Lanka to enable the project to provide vital outreach programmes & support to thousands of vulnerable children and poor communities. Most recently making it possible to transport food aid to plantation communities during the Corona pandemic emergency. It is an essential part of the projects ability to provide support. The van is rented; from a local family with few means. It is their only real asset and the rental TEA provides helps towards the cost of their son's schooling. The van really does provide so much support to so many people.
Sadly, last week the engine broke down. The project has cared & repaired for it time and again over the years. The cost of repair this time is more than TEA can afford and a replacement van is simply out of the question. Believe it or not...to buy a very basic, very used replacement for our little 'zero frills' minivan in Sri Lanka is anywhere between £7-13,000 thousand pounds!
We simply don't have the funding to repair it this time but without a van, we are literally grounded. To completely repair the van with a new engine and parts will cost £1000. Being able to repair the van would mean the difference to so many children and communities and to the family we rent it from.
The global pandemic has hit us hard; like so many NGO's finances are stretched. We have been working incredibly hard to keep the charity on its feet throughout COVID and we are doing all we can to secure more funding; but we really need your help to keep this brilliant charity running and empower more children out of poverty.
