Ellen Whiteman is raising £200 for Guy's and St Thomas' Charity
About
It's hard to believe that 5 years has passed since our beautiful son Ellis was born. For those who don't know, Ellis was born with a congenital heart defect, which remained undetected during pregnancy. For 2 days after his birth we had no idea what was wrong with him and our local hospital did not have the equipment to diagnose his heart defect. He was transferred to the Evelina Children's Hospital @ Guy's & St Thomas' where severe pulmonary valve stenosis was identified. We entrusted Ellis to the safe and caring hands of Dr Eric Rosenthal who carried out keyhole surgery on our precious newborn. We are eternally grateful to the Evelina Hospital and Dr Rosenthal who cared for him in those early weeks and continue to look after him. The paediatric cardiology unit is a world leader in treating children with heart defects, and we know how fortunate we are to have benefited from their expertise and skill when treating Ellis. So on the 27th June I am throwing myself off the Golden Jubilee Wing of Kings College Hospital and doing my 1st ever abseil! I'm hoping to raise as much money as possible to continue the amazing work of the children's cardiology unit at Evelina and thank them for helping Ellis and his special heart.
