Privacy Policy

At Givey we recognise that privacy and security is a major concern. We have therefore set out below the guidelines we use for protecting your personal information.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully and check it periodically since it may change from time to time.

The Givey.com website is owned and operated by Givey Limited. We are committed to safeguarding your privacy online. We will pass your contact details on to the charity you have donated to, unless you opt out. They may use your details to thank you for your donation and to open up a conversation with you. We only share your personal information in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and other applicable laws. You may contact Givey at any time with any privacy questions or concerns and to see the personal information you have given us and request correction.

Consent

Your use of the Givey.com website and any disclosure of personal information via the website signifies your consent to us collecting and using personal information about you in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Your Information

When a Givey user registers at Givey.com we ask for information such as your name, e-mail address, postal address, contact and Gift Aid details, and then we keep a record of this information. All this is necessary so we can recognise you as a registered user, pass on the correct details with your donation and ensure that you are happy with the service you receive.

We keep a record of any donation you make using your Givey wallet. This means both the charity and (in some instances) we can help to deal more quickly with any queries or problems you may have, and also so we can ensure that any information that we send to you is relevant.

The donations you make via Givey create content for the site - ‘donation strings’ - and these appear in several places (your profile, charity profile, profiles of other users involved in the donation). This content will remain on the site indefinitely, even after the closure or suspension of associated profiles and fundraising pages. Givey retains the right to use or remove this content as required.

We keep a record of any e-mail correspondence you send us, so we can track any problems or concerns you've had with any of the retailers' stores on our website.

We'll also ask you questions at registration, and from time to time by email, that will give us information that will be used to improve your experience of donating using your Givey account. You do not have to answer these questions, but if you do we can communicate with you in a more relevant way.

If you would like to revise the information you have provided to us, or feel that what we currently have on record is incorrect, you may contact us.

Using Your Information

All the information we collect via our website, or through correspondence with you is used to operate and improve the service we offer you and to personalise our service. We are committed to using your personal information only for:

Passing on your information to the charity you have donated to so they respond to your donation and continue in a conversation with you if they choose to.
Planning and managing Givey's donor activities, including analysis of donor's giving habits, product and style preferences.
Technical administration of our website.
Research.
Providing you with information about the services we offer.
Letting you know about any news from Givey.
Occasionally letting you know about offers from other charities who we believe may interest you, either by sending out the information ourselves to you directly, or by providing certain details to other companies so they may contact you directly.
To verify details of your payment method or credit card account.
During your registration process you are given the opportunity to select some of the ways in which we may use your details. This can be amended at any time by managing your settings in your account or contacting Givey.

There are only four circumstances where we may share some of your data with others:

In the unlikely event that our business assets are ever sold to or purchased by another company (our data records are part of our business). You will receive notice of any such event and we will use our reasonable endeavours to ensure that the new combined entity will follow the practices disclosed in this Privacy Policy.
To outside research companies whom we may ask to contact you directly for your opinions on our service, and our partners' services (in which case we provide them with only the information they need to perform their function).
We occasionally make names, addresses and email addresses available to charities whose cause we think may interest you, unless you have subsequently withdrawn that permission. (See 'helping us to grow' below).
If we are requested by the police or a regulatory or government authority investigating illegal activities to provide information concerning your activities whilst using the network we shall do so. With your employer if they are using the Givey for Business service, and your personal account is, or has been, linked.

Cookies

A cookie is a small text file that a website can send to your computer's browser. It's like an internet user's identification card, which tells a website when a user is re-visiting the site. Cookies can't read or interfere with other information saved on your hard drive. The Givey website will not work without cookies.

Most computers are set up to automatically accept cookies. However, you can reset your browser settings to refuse cookies, or alert you when a cookie is being sent so you can choose whether or not to accept it.

Data Processing and the Internet

The internet is a global network, so it is possible for your data to travel internationally, which may include places outside the European Union. If you visit or give using Givey you're agreeing and authorising us to process data in this way.

Protecting Your Information

You acknowledge that the Internet is not a 100% secure medium for communication and, accordingly, we cannot guarantee the security of any information you send to us (or we send to you) via the Internet. Securing Your Information

Please keep in mind that whenever you voluntarily disclose personal information online in non-protected environments - for example on message boards, through email, or in chat areas - that information can be collected and used by others. In short, if you post personal information online that is accessible to the public, you may receive unsolicited messages from other parties in return. Also remember to close your browser window when you have finished your work. This is to ensure that others cannot access your personal information and correspondence if you share a computer with someone else or are using a computer in a public place like a library or Internet café. Spreading the Word

In order to grow, succeed and offer you an increasingly broad, high-quality service, we need to recruit more wonderful users, like you. We rely on the many of you who tell your friends and family about us, and we also encourage other charities to utilise Givey as a donation tool, so, when we genuinely think you'd be interested, we'll source and send news from other charities to you and other Givey users. If you do not want to receive information from us about offers from other charities that we think may interest you please contact us.

Changes To Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to change our privacy policy, whilst of course keeping it within all relevant legislation and guidelines. We will do all we can to ensure that these pages show the most up to date information at all times, and may notify you of such changes by uploading the revised privacy policy on the Givey website.

Our Partners' Privacy Policies

Our partners are bound by the same legislation as us, and if they gather or keep your information, they must give you all relevant information about their policy, as well as giving you the opportunity to opt in or out of certain ways in which they might use that information.

However, we are not responsible and do not warrant or guarantee that the privacy policies, of any partner or any other companies that your personal information is passed to in accordance with this Privacy Policy, comply with data protection legislation. We are not responsible for any damages, which you or others may suffer as a result of the loss of confidentiality of such information. When you donate to any of our partner charities, your personal details that you submit at registration must by necessity be forwarded along with the order, so you will need to verify their privacy policy directly with them if you wish.
