About
Many of you reading this will be my family and friends, and so will know what we have all been going through over the last 18 months. For those of you who don't know, I lost my big brother Sam on the 10th of September 2013, exactly a month after his 23rd birthday. Sam had a smile that would light up any room, a personality that made every girl fall in love with him, and had dreams bigger than Martin Luther Kings. Sam took his own life on that Tuesday evening, leaving our world with a gaping hole. As many reading this will know, there have been many days where it has been a struggle to get up and face the world after this change. I decided that I would do something for Sam, so that it could keep me close to him and give me something positive to focus on. I spent months trying to decide what to do; Should I do a skydive? Should I run a half marathon? All the normal thoughts, but nothing seemed to fit. Then 'Tough Mudder' popped up. PERFECT! Sam would never have thought I would have been able to do it, and he would have loved the thought of me getting electrocuted! So here I am, training most days in the gym (yes, really! I can sense the shocked faces reading this!) to try and build up my endurance and body strength so that I don't spend the whole day face-planted in mud. I'm taking the part in the Gloucester run at the end of August 2015! Why PAPYRUS? Obviously losing my big brother in the way I have, and having known a couple of other young adult males do the same thing, I feel very passionately about helping to raise awareness of this. PAPYRUS aim to help preventing young suicides by providing support, training, help and advice. Please see their website for more information https://www.papyrus-uk.org/ My big brother never admitted, or let anyone in on the fact that he was feeling the way he was. He suffered, silently, painfully, until it was too late. Perhaps if he had come across organisations such as PAPYRUS, he would still be here, ready to laugh at me dangling from a monkey bar with tears rolling down my face as I will have definitely eaten too much chocolate the night before. I miss Sam every day, and, at times, the hardest part is knowing that this pain is never going to go away. Please help me in preventing any others from having to go through this battle. Please help me prevent young suicides, and help me prevent other families from going through the pain that mine are enduring. You can give through an existing Paypal account, or by using Paypal as a guest. Just follow their instructions. Don't forget to gift aid your donation! Thank you to all who help me on my journey, and to all who have supported and continue to support my beautiful family.
