As a community school with a local intake, many of the pupils and staff at the Charter
School North Dulwich choose to cycle in each day. However the existing bike shelters
only accommodate 40 bikes and there are health and safety issues, congestion and
security risks because of the over-crowding.
The School is understandably concerned that the poor facilities are stopping teachers
and students, especially those who live further than walking distance, from choosing to
cycle. The proposed new shelter will house 84 bikes – making it a total of 124 – so that
cycling to school is far easier.
We have been asked to raise the funds for the shelter. At £14,000 it is a big target and
we are planning a series of covid friendly fundraising events and sponsorship
opportunities to help reach this number. Anything you can donate to support this cause
will be very welcome….thank you.
