Stephen Robertson is raising £375 for Send a Cow
About
For the week starting 5th May, I will be challenging myself to live for 7 days at just 1 a day. For many in this world this is a reality of life, while day-in-day-out I happily scoff down meals that I nonchalantly pay 5 for (I literally do this every single day for lunch). Many of you know how much I love my food, and so I hope you realise just how difficult this is going to be for me. Whether it be eating the free biscuits and cakes at hospital (all of them), the copious amount of creme eggs I buy, or all the of food my parents send me, I nearly always have food either in my mouth or at least on my mind. This week will be about both increasing awareness for those who live in such difficult circumstances - allowing me (and maybe if I'm lucky, others too) to see just how truly blessed we are, and hopefully raise a little bit of money to help them out. This is part of the "SHIFT. Live Below The Line" initiative. https://www.livebelowtheline.com/uk/the_cause And watch Hugh Jackman convince you to join - https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=sYfL8VmKjrg (Oh and the challenge is meant to be just for 5 days, but I thought 7 was harder, the weekends will be soo difficult - SO DONATE MORE!) I shall be fundraising for "Send a Cow" - could that actually have a better name. This amazing charity give long term aid to families in Africa. They really invest their time in families, helping them to develop the skills and tools to make themselves self-sufficient. Last year, this charity worked with nearly 12,000 families - 2,500 of which graduated, meaning they are now fully self-sufficient. Admittedly, it's expensive to send a cow, in fact it's 750, but that's what I want to do. So that's my target. Although I realise I may not reach this, why aim low. http://www.sendacow.org.uk/home https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BV2bZFDIlM Also at the moment, the government have promised to match pound-for-pound any donation sent to "Send a Cow". This means, that the 10 you're about to donate, will become 20. THEY DOUBLE IT! This doesn't mean donate less, it means donate more, and you can do even more good! Even if this only raises 49, a beehive will be sent to a family, providing honey, wax and flower pollination. Even if you can't donate, I want to thank you for reading this, and I hope it just lets you think about those in need of our help. God bless. For the challenge, I am not able to accept food donations or free food (urghhh). No individual day of food can be worth more than 1, although I can pool with other challengers to ease the burden. If you want to join me on this challenge. DO IT! Lets raise loads for SEND A COW!
