About
As those closest to us know... we recently had to make the heartbreaking decision to re-home our beautiful Loki. He was the sweetest dog 98% of the time, but we have been dealing with aggressive incidents for the last 5 months. These would be out of the blue, scary, and have caused injury. We enlisted the help of a behaviourist and three different trainers in the 8 months we had Loki, and none of them could get to the bottom of this problem. We truly believed this could be trained out of Loki in the right hands, but had to make the gut wrenching admission that we were not the best people to do this. A lot of professionals told us the best option would be to have him put to sleep, as he was a dangerous dog. Anybody that met Loki would be able to say that he was one of the most loving dogs you could wish to meet, he just had a trigger that we could not correct, and this put him, us and the people around us at risk. This is where Canine Rescue Scotland came in... they were on our wavelength and believed they could help. Loki has gone to their facility where he will be enrolled in a full behavioural programme to overcome this problem and will then be found a new home with an experienced family who will be better equipped to manage this instinct within him. We are absolutely heart broken and destroyed that it came to this, but we know deep down it was the best thing for Loki to have the chance at a long, fulfilled life. We suddenly have an empty home and empty hearts, but want to do our bit to help the place that is helping our boy. Me and Mat are not runners at all, and have not properly been to the gym since before Covid. We have just under 11 weeks to train for a half marathon. Any donations will be greatly appreciated.
