About
On May 21st 2022, I am running the Endurancelife Classic Quarter Solo race, a 44 mile Ultra Marathon from the southernmost point of England (Lizard Point), to the western most tip (Land's End), along the South West Coast Path. This translates to running 90 degrees of the compass, hence the name, Classic Quarter. I am running to support the Nixon Memorial Hospital in Segbwema, a rural part of Eastern Sierra Leone. As many of you know, my brother, (Doctor) Rob, has a long standing relationship with the hospital (he undertook an elective placement in 2010 as part of his medical training), and has recently returned from a long trip to Segbwema with his family, in which he developed an ultrasound scan service to improve maternity care with relevant training to the midwives and other staff. Rob is Chairman of The Friends of Nixon Memorial Hospital, a UK based charity which supports the running of the hospital. In recent years, they have raised funds to support the construction of community latrines and water wells in neighbouring villages, the provision of essential medicines, PPE and food aid during the Covid-19 crisis, the provision of oxygen machines for the children's ward of the hospital and a new generator to ensure a more reliable electricity supply to the hospital. If you wish to support this incredibly worthwhile cause, please click on the relevant link to donate! For further details see friendsofnixon.org AND https://www.endurancelife.com/classic-quarter
