Rachel's recovery run - couch to half marathon
About
I was out of action for 5 months in 2017, going through breast cancer treatment, eating cake and dozing in my onesie. Now I am all healed up and have 10 weeks to train for Southampton half marathon on 22nd April. My first run felt like my first run ever - and I only managed a mile! This is going to be a big challenge. I am motivated by determination to rebuild my fitness, plus my heartfelt commitment to Lullaby Africa, the wonderful team running it in their spare time from Winchester, and the amazing local leaders who keep the work growing in their communities in some very deprived areas of Africa. And, most of all, I am hoping to raise money to help train more mothers to form healthy and rewarding bonds with their babies. So I would be delighted to raise a decent amount of money. £1000 is what a training trip costs - transport, translator, accommodation etc for 2 trainers for 2 weeks, equipping local leaders, meeting and supporting hundreds of women and their babies. How worthwhile is that!! Please give something, whatever you can. Thank you! (All money donated via Givey goes direct to the charity, Lullaby Africa, and our admin costs are minimal as all staff give their time as volunteers)
