About
Like many people I struggle daily with generalised anxiety disorder and one thing that helps me is running as exercise keeps me in a positive place. I decided that I wanted to challenge myself and run the half marathon with a friend on behalf of the awesome non-profit organisation heads above the waves. For those not familiar with this organisation they specialise in raising awareness of depression and self-harm in young people and promote positive, creative ways of dealing with the bad days. They do this in a series of ways such as delivering workshops in schools to young people to promote healthy comping techniques and creating positive online content both written and filmed to share messages of hope. As both I and many of my friends have struggled with these issues Heads Above the Waves were the ideal organisation to raise money for, as I strongly believe young people need more support and knowledge of how to deal with mental health.
