Amie Calthorpe is raising £500 for Alzheimer's Society
About
I am attempting a 12 mile run in the mud, with 25 obstacles and a few electrocutions thrown in, 'just for fun'... (not really.. it's for a charity very close to my heart so please donate :) it is for a very good cause!) Why Alzheimer's Society? Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of dementia. It is predicted there will be more than 520,000 people in the UK with Alzheimer's disease in 2015. The term 'dementia' describes a set of symptoms which can include loss of memory, mood changes, and problems with communication and reasoning. These symptoms occur when the brain is damaged by certain diseases and conditions, including Alzheimer's disease. Alzheimer's Society is a membership organisation, which works to improve the quality of life of people affected by dementia in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. What is Tough Mudder? Tough Mudder is an endurance event series in which participants attempt 1012-mile-long (1619 km) military-style obstacle courses. Designed and created by British Special Forces to test mental as well as physical strength, obstacles often play on common human fears, such as fire, water, electricity and heights. "Notorious for resembling a medieval battlefield, London Souths Tough Mudder is arguably Europes most grueling. Sprawled over hundreds of acres of barren farmland and jagged, meandering trails, this course is as wide and open as it is fast and slippery. If you thought London was wet and gloomy before, just wait til TM comes to town"
