Help our family raise funds for African Vision Malawi....
About
Our family of four is setting out to do something unusual during our Easter Holidays 2020. The four of us are embarking on a 250 km cycle ride in Malawi, raising money for the inspiring African Vision charity: http://www.africanvision.org.uk/

None of us are strangers to bicycles, but we have never done anything like this as a family. Our daughters Jess and Laura are 15 and 12 respectively, but have never been to Africa.

We will be cycling over a 10 day period, with some rest stops along the way! This is going to be a physical and mental challenge for all of us and may well change the way our daughters view the world for the rest of their lives.

We will be tree planting in Malawi to offset our flights, and we will be learning about the impacts of climate change and plastics on the day to day lives of people in the poorest country in the world.

African Vision Malawi have organised sponsored bike rides through Malawi over the last 2 years; two more are planned for 2020. Get inspired by watching the 2019 Video HERE

African Vision Malawi started nearly 15 years ago and has made an incredible difference through providing clean water, better nutrition, education and now self-sufficiency to 40,000 of the world’s most vulnerable people in Malawi.

UNESCO through the EU STEP Program have supported AVM launch an ambitious series of training courses designed to get people out of poverty. Already over 200 people have been trained during a 4-month residential stay at Sam’s Village, as carpenters, tailors, metalworkers etc. With these skills, they are now offering invaluable services to their local community and providing their families with an income. This support ends early next year, but you can help it continue. Within 2 years this program will become self-sufficient as training organisations pay to use Sam’s Village but for now we need to fund its early stages. Your donation will help at least one person to attend a course for free and fund their training and living costs. There is a film all about Sam's Village HERE

We will be doing some offline fundraising through the girls schools, Charlie's business and local networks in addition to organising a fundraising Ceilidh on March 7th.

Please support us all as we cycle 250km through Malawi in the first half of April 2020. We pay all our own costs to participate. Every penny of your donation goes directly to Malawi. AVM prides itself on having only volunteers in the UK, no paid staff, no expenses! Thank you so much for your support.

Right … now to get some training rides sorted !! Pass the vaseline….
