About
Hello Everyone, I am currently volunteering at the T.E.A project in Sri Lanka. Having been lucky enough to visit this wonderful country and experience the kindness of the people when I was 16 on a cricket tour, I knew someday I wanted to return and help give back. The T.E.A Project is a small school that was transformed from an old cattle shed situated in the hills just 10km south of Kandy. It was setup in 2014 with the ambition to help the children of the tea plantation communities, whose families earn around 700 rupees a day (just under £2.00). T.E.A stands for training, empowerment and creating awareness, and the project achieves these aspects through outreach English classes, ICT lessons, music and sport. My role here has been different each day, I have been on the outreach program to teach English, held guitar lessons, helped with morning preschool, got involved with local cricket and helped raise money and awareness hosting Bingo nights each Saturday at a local Pub in Kandy. My experience so far has been as eye opening as it has been rewarding and having 2 weeks left, I kindly ask for a small donation that will help this charity and its wonderful staff continue their mission to provide the children with the confidence and skills that otherwise wouldn’t be encouraged in such a way in this wonderful community Thank you!
