Henri Haizel is raising £100 for LUPUS UK
About
Me and some mates are fundraising for Charity. My team of supporters include- Marisa, Jennifer, Cherice and Bayleigh. Why am I running from the Wolf? Lupus is Latin for wolf, the perfect name for a condition that cunningly mimics other conditions? When I first did the Lupus walk for South London Lupus about 8 years ago, it was three miles and I walked the whole way from St Paul Cathedral to Hyde park, the walk was painful and I had a difficult time for a few days after. On my 10 year anniversary as a Lupus Survivor, I have been blessed with the strength to try and run some of the 5 mile route at the London Excel for the Ride or Dye fun run on 27th Sept 14, and again for the fun run during Lupus awareness month on October 25th '14 in Victoria Park. Lupus derailed my early 20's and stunted the progressions people my age usually make. This time round, I have my hair, my eyebrows, my confidence and nothing is going to stop me. Why not join me? Help me contribute to a charity dear to my heart. So what's this Lupus thing about any way?. Lupus, SLE or Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (still can't spell it after ten years) belongs to the autoimmune disease family. SLE is an inflammatory autoimmune disorder. In a healthy person, the immune system protects the body from harmful matter. In patients with Lupus, the immune system cannot tell the difference between harmful substances & healthy ones. This results in an overactive immune response, thus attacking otherwise healthy cells & tissue. This leads to long-term inflammation.
