About

The Killin & District Volunteer Car Scheme is a charity formed by volunteers, helping people who struggle with accessing public transport and coping with long journeys.

Volunteers drive to and from appointments at hospitals, health centres & clinics, clubs, days centres and other various activities that help to combat loneliness and boost wellbeing. Killin and its surrounding villages are a transport desert, with very little public and/or accessible transport. The service is a lifeline to many in the community.

So far, our services have been provided by drivers who use their own cars for transport. We would now like to raise funds for a wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV) to transport our disabled and frail passengers. We have quite a few people now (49 with some level of disability/ frailty) who experience significant problems accessing standard cars and who would benefit from a WAV.

We have already managed to raise £7k from various grant funders, but our target is £25K for a used WAV, well serviced and maintained, with low mileage, and some associated equipment (such as a wheelchair). We thank you for participating to our efforts!
