James & Ewan Shaw-Jackson is raising £5,000 for Meningitis Now
About
First of all Id like to say thanks to Ewan for choosing to help me raise money for a meningitis charity, its greatly appreciated. In 1998, at the age of 13, I was diagnosed with Meninigococcus causing meningitis and septicaemia. In the morning I was unwell but by the same evening I was critically ill and heavily sedated on a life support machine. My treatment was delayed for over 12 hours as early warning signs went undetected. By the time they were recognised it was too late and my mum was told to prepare for the worst and take each minute at a time. Meningitis UK has a single focus to find a vaccine to eradicate meningitis and meningococcal septicaemia. One in ten cases of meningococcal disease will be fatal, and the after-effects for survivors can be severely debilitating, with a high proportion of sufferers being left with some form of mental or physical disability. We will be climbing up Kilimanjaro's longest route at the beginning of June. Hopefully we shall complete this in 6 day's. It will be very challenging, trekking through different habitats ranging from rain forest to glacier. And dealing with the altitude sickness, on a daily basis. This is a privately funded trip, so 100% of your donation will go to charity. Remember it strikes within hours but the changes can be for a lifetime. The more we raise the bigger the difference we can make. Thank you
