Dear friends, on 1 October 2023 I (Giulia Piccolino) will participate in the Leicester Half Marathon. This will be my first official Half Marathon. I wanted to run a Half Marathon for many years, but each time something got in the way. This time I have put a lot of training and dedication and I am confident that I can run the entire distance (21.1 Km or 13.1 miles). I would like to dedicate my first Half Marathon to the asylum seekers and refugees who live in a precarious condition in the UK due to the Home Office xenophobic policies. For this reason, I have chosen to fundraise for Leicester City of Sanctuary, which is an official partner of the Leicester Half Marathon and a charity whose mission is to support asylum seekers and refugees in and around Leicester (https://leicester.cityofsanctuary.org/).
