Annwyl gyfaill / Dear friend, I'd be delighted if you would sponsor my cycle ride to Bordeaux to raise funds for the Aberystwyth and District Hospice at Home Volunteers. On Saturday 9th of May I set off from Roscoff in Brittany to cycle 1045km (627 miles) to Libourne, near Bordeaux. I followed the coastal cycle route known as the Velodyssey (see http://www.velodyssey.com/) and completed the journey in 11 days. Each day involved up to 70 miles of cycling and, according to my cycle GPS, I expended some 29,000 calories, however I replaced most if not all of this with large numbers of croissants, baguettes and not a little vin rouge!
