On 20 June 2026 I will be running the Tromso Midnight Sun Marathon in Norway and raising funds for the amazing charity Young Citizens of Rwanda. Any support you can give is hugely appreciated.

The Charity:

Young Citizens of Rwanda (YCR) was established as a charity in 2009 following several years of supporting survivors of the 1994 Genocide. YCR is in Rwanda to support and prepare young people who are determined to put their tragic past behind them and build a strong future for their country. They do this through helping students complete formal education, access vocational training, providing in-house training, offering guidance and other social interventions.

My connection:

In 2012 and 2013 I lived in Kigali for several months and got to know CEO Jemrose Walker and the work she and the charity does in Rwanda. I was lucky enough to be invited into their home for a 2-week stay and welcomed into the family of inspiring young people. I have supported the charity ever since and would love to be able to boost my efforts with your donations 🙏

The Challenge:

I am running 42.19 km to complete the Midnight Sun Marathon around the fjords and streets of Tromso, Norway. The run starts at 8.30pm and runs through the night - as Tromso is within the Arctic circle there will be nearly 24-hours of daylight in June! I haven't even run a half marathon since having kids so this will be a big challenge, but also an amazing one!
