Ben Nevis Climb - Saturday 27th June 2026. Thank you for visiting this page. My name is Veronica Lee, and I have been attending various meetings with DAFS for 11 months. I intially contacted DAFS in March last year after reaching out to a counsellor who told me about DAFS. I reached out to DAFS and Val contacted me and I went to my first meeting. My Son started drinking at the age of 17. In November 2023 he admitted he was an alcoholic. I had endured many years of verbal abuse from him, and his Dad endured much verbal and physical abuse from our Son. I spent many years feeling very isolated and not coping with the chaos that goes with a loved one in addiction. I don't think I will ever be able to find the word to express how much DAFS has helped me to understand and cope. Everyone that attends the groups and all the Volunteers are so kind and compassionate, even though some of them are struggling themselves. DAFS has given me the strength to cope and the confidence to talk openly with no judgement and, a safe space we all need. I am doing the Ben Nevis climb on Saturday 27th June 2026. This will be approximately a 6-10 hour hike, starting at around 8am, walking distance of 11 miles to the summit which is 1,344m to raise money for such a wonderful charity that goes above and beyond to give all of us support. Any money raised will have a huge impact on their ability to reach more families, improve their services, and continue the vital work they do.
