About

This page is in memory of our much loved colleague Mehraab Nazir and his youngest son Zain, who tragically passed away in April 2022.

In line with Mehraab's family’s wishes we are fundraising for Ripple Africa - a development charity which empowers local communities to improve education, the environment and healthcare in Malawi. Reaching our target will allow the charity to build a new classroom block at Chiomba pre-school in the Nkhata Bay District, offering life changing opportunities for over 100 students.

In 2022 we exceeded our initial fundraising target of £15, 883, enabling Ripple Africa to begin construction on the Chiomba pre-school. Despite challenges due to the rainy season in Malawi, the block is now complete and is being enjoyed by 105 children; 55 boys and 50 girls. Morton Banda, Ripple Africa Mwaya Manager said, "We would like to thank you for building the new pre-school at Chiomba. The old one was becoming dangerous due to cracks in the walls. Now the parents will have peace of mind in terms of safety and we expect more parents will be sending their children to school. Thank you once again."

Now the pre-school is up and running, we are embarking on a final fundraising push to add to our initial fundraising total of £18,300 by raising an additional £2,417, which will ensure the pre-school is fully funded for its first year of operation.

Geoff Furber, CEO and Founder, Ripple Africa: "I would like to thank everyone who, in memory of your colleague Mehraab, is fundraising to raise money to build the new classroom block at Chiomba. Our preschools are an important service that Ripple Africa provides for the local communities and the staff at Chiomba preschool have worked at the school for many years providing a valuable start for so many children. With your help this can now continue. Good luck with your fundraising. Have fun and thank you so much WFW for your amazing contribution."

Nikki Khoram, Corporate Partnerships Manager and Project Development Lead, Ripple Africa: "Chiomba Pre-school provides an early year’s education and a daily nutritious meal to 105 children aged 2 to 6. Those first formative years are essential to a child’s education and development and being able to provide this education in a safe learning environment is so important. We are all really grateful to everyone at Watson Farley and Williams who are supporting this project in memory of Mehraab."
