It's my birthday. I've got lots of blessings to count.

I've got food in my cupboard, money in the bank to buy further food, and no other mouths to feed. I'm fortunate that I can sit comfortably and seethe about the fact that in 2020 Britain food banks are necessary. They were a lifeline for thousands before this pandemic, and now many thousands more will need their support. So I'm raising funds for the Trussell Trust, who run and support foodbanks all over the UK and are currently pulling out all the stops to meet increased demand and additionally supporting shielded and vulnerable members of the community who can't leave their homes.

For my birthday, I would love to live in a society which doesn't need foodbanks. Not this year, I guess, but one of the stated aims of the Trussell Trust is exactly the same - to end the need. In the meantime, whilst there is a need, I think it's important to support their work.
