About
Hi friends - I’m cycling 100 miles around London on 4 August. It’s the day before my 30th, so I imagine I’ll be feeling rough AF on my birthday itself, but not for the right reasons. DON’T LET THE PICTURE FOOL YOU. Ride London will be the longest cycle I’ve ever done - the most I’ve ever cycled on a ‘real’ bike (outside of spin class) in a day is 28 miles (and that was split with a 2 hour stop, a cuppa tea and a bag of Malteasars). I can also now ride without stabilisers. More than anything I’d really like to raise awareness of lipoedema and the charity Talk Lipoedema. If you could spend literally 3 minutes having a nosey round the page, that would be great - http://www.talklipoedema.org/about-lipoedema. They’re also on insta and twitter @talklipoedema. Lipoedema is a chronic and progressive disorder of the adipose (fat) tissue and mainly affects women. It usually presents in the lower half of the body but can also be found in the upper arms and other areas of the body. If undiagnosed it may progress though different stages, and might lead to (but is distinct from) lymphoedema. It’s often mistaken for obesity or lymphoedema. If I can also raise £1 for every mile I cycle, that’s the cherry. I’m not asking anyone to dig deep - 80 people each donating £1, with Gift Aid, does it. And will hopefully mean 80 more people have heard about lipoedema. THANK YOU for getting this far.
