Michael Downey is raising £600 for Filanthropy*
About
I will be running a Sprint Triathlon to raise funds for Filanthropy*, this is my first ever running/endurance type event. I will also be adding the challenge to complete the triathlon in 1hr 30mins, this is going to be extremely tough as it basically gives me 10minutes to swim 500m, 1hr to cycle 20km and then 20minutes to run 5km!! So I am going to be training hard, the triathlon will be on 28th August, and if you like you can follow my training progress on Strava ( https://www.strava.com/athletes/11340124 ). Filanthropy* holds events to give smaller charities a stage and a chance to crowdsource funding from individual donors and share their message/project to an active group of philanthropists! Please visit www.filanthropystar.org for more information or come to the next event in October. Filanthropy* provide a platform for a wide variety of projects helping a plethora of different causes. Two recent projects we have hosted were Bread & Roses (http://www.wearebreadandroses.com/) and The Hard Yard (https://www.thehardyard.co.uk/). Bread and Roses are a Hackney-based social enterprise helping refugee women to flourish through employment in the floristry industry. Whereas The Hard Yard are setting up ex-offenders as personal trainers, giving them a route and a chance to reintergrate. We are all about accessibility, allowing projects to use the event as a kick starter and allowing philanthropists with any budget contribute and get involved. I have been volunteering with Filanthropy* for around 1 year and truly believe in the cause and that individuals coming together can contribute to making a huge difference to society. We are hoping to expand Filanthropy* to enable us to have a much greater reach and enable us to raise more money for the projects but will need some funds to do so. The money raised from this event will be going towards the Filanthropy* running costs to allow us to continue doing what we can, this means website, entertainment for the event and any marketting costs. Nobody at Filanthropy* takes a salary or profit, we are just a group of volunteers. Thank you for visiting our Givey page.
