In October 2023 I am heading to Malawi, to work as a volunteer midwife with Ripple Africa. Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world and has a very high rate of both maternal and baby deaths. Most of those deaths would be preventable in the UK. Whilst many are the result of poor access to appropriate healthcare, before, during and after birth., the issues are much bigger. Sufficient food, safe water for drinking and personal hygiene, electricity and transport for women in emergencies are not reliably available. Ripple Africa addresses issues in an holistic way, with a moto of "Giving an hand up, not a hand out". I am paying all my own costs, including travel, vaccinations, accommodation and food during my trip. What I am asking from you is a donation towards the project itself. Money donated will be used for whatever is most needed at the time. This is much more helpful than me taking "stuff" which may or may not be useful. When you make your donation through Givey, the Charity receives 100% of the donation. Your details are safe with Givey and donating is completely secure.
