We're raising funds towards the long-term hire of a mini-bus for William Ellis School. A school minibus will enable our Outdoor Education programme to be sustainable. Outdoor Education is a vital part of enabling students to develop real world, practical skills including through the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Research shows a direct link between outdoor learning and classroom application. William Ellis is a state-funded, non-selective boys’ school. We provide a well-rounded, opportunity rich education for all students who are part of our community. A minibus will mean that we can take students to locations with mountainous terrain such as the Lake District, the Brecon Beacons, the Yorkshire Dales, and areas in Scotland. William Ellis is the lead Outdoor Education provider in LaSWAP, one of the largest sixth form consortia in London. A minibus would support outdoor opportunities for students from across all four schools – Parliament Hill, Acland Burghley and La Sainte Union as well as our school. It would also enable students to travel to sports fixtures and take part in Biology and Geography field trips in a way that is currently not possible.
