About
My colleague Billy Drummond is the current Mayor of Newbury. Billy has recovered from two strokes and both times was greatly helped in his recovery by Speakability, Newbury. Speakability works with stroke victims to help them recover their powers of speech. Billy has made Speakability his charity of the year as Mayor and aims to raise £10,000 by getting 100 Newbury residents to raise £100 each: the One in a 100 campaign. I am campaigner number 2 and would like to raise at least £500 for this very worthwhile cause. Please donate whatever you can. The donations on this site will go to the Mayor's Benevolent Fund and will then be transferred from to Speakability. I will be cycling 500 miles in 6 days in the Highlands of Scotland on the North Coast 500 route. I'll be starting in Inverness on 16th September, going north along the east coast to John o' Groats, then west along the north coast to Durness, then south largely along the west coast as far as Applecross, before heading east back to Inverness. I'll be riding solo and carrying my (minimal!) luggage on my bicycle. And I'm hoping for reasonable weather!!! I will be posting updates on Instagram.
