By the community, for the community
About
The Oxfordshire Drag Collective, along with a number of performers and community members, have made the decision to withdraw from Oxford Pride this year. This decision was made in response to Oxford Pride’s partnership with Siemens – a company with well-documented links to the ongoing tragedy and genocide in Gaza.

When concerns were raised, with repetitive offers to meet with the committee, Oxford Pride responded by stating they are “not political” and do not align themselves with any political causes. This position stands in direct contradiction to the origins of Pride, which is inherently political and rooted in protest and liberation. When members of the Oxford community continued to raise concerns, Oxford Pride responded by cancelling the Community Stage at Pride.

Their response – and their actions – reflect a disturbing trend of pinkwashing, prioritising sponsorship and image over principle and community.

With this in mind, we are excited to create our own DIY Community Pride event in collaboration with T(ART) Productions CIC this June! Inspired by similar grassroots initiatives in Reading and Brighton, we envision a full-day celebration featuring performances, workshops, community stalls, information points, and accessibility for all – a space where we can come together, uplift each other, and honour the true spirit of Pride.

We will be running on Sunday 15 May at Florence Park Community Centre and the Old Fire Station.

This event is totally free from corporate sponsorship so we need your help to run this event!

Our main expenses are as follows:

Venue: £321

Wellbeing (drinks, snacks, suncream etc): £45

Equipment hire: £120

Performer expenses: £300

Any additional donations will be donated to charity (organisation tbc)
