About

The challenges of Covid and the Cost of Living Crisis have had a significant, negative impact on young people's mental health - referrals to the NHS's Child and Adolescent Mental Services (CAMHS) in the Lothians more than doubled in the 4 years to September 2023.

Spending time in nature is a wonderful way to enhance mental health and the Green Team are a charity who undertake some brilliant work in this space. They were winners of the Nature of Scotland, Health and Wellbeing award in 2022, and through programmes they run, such as 'Thrive', they have have made a huge difference to young people like Chloe:

"I wish I could be here all week. Usually I have regular suicidal thoughts, but at Thrive I don’t have any at all. Usually I talk using my phone, but here I am able to talk and have talked more than I have in a long time. People here are kind and lovely. I don’t usually like the outdoors, but enjoy myself when I am here"

I am delighted to be cycling from the Mull of Galloway to Duncansby Head to support the amazing work the Green Team does. It is a 860km route from the South-West corner of Scotland to the North-East corner and will take me three weeks - I am 77 years old after all!

Please give generously to encourage me, and most of all to help change the lives of young people as they face up to the challenges of these times.

Peter
