Janelle Dexter-Lowe is raising £500 for Prostate Cancer UK
About
Did you know that every hour a man dies from Prostate Cancer, or that every day there are 100 men diagnosed with Prostate Cancer? In 2009 my Dad was diagnosed with this type of cancer, after being pumped full of hormones, and a hospital stay with life threatening DVTs he is now undergoing the nasty Chemotherapy, but what has been the common message since diagnosis is the lack of understanding about the disease. The treatments, when offered are trial and error, but when they error the consequences can be awful. Despite being the most common cancer in men the dynamics and development of the disease still remain a mystery. I don't want my Dad to be one of the hourly statistics! So I have decided to take on a challenge to put my body to the limits and no doubt experience pain... On Sunday 7th September 2014 I will be running 35 miles along the Gritstone Way to try and raise a few pounds towards research into this cancer. Another fact is that one in eight men will get Prostate Cancer, so if you are reading this at some point in life you WILL come across someone who is or will be diagnosed, please help raise money to research it!
