About
Sewing Hope is an opportunity for three of I AM's previous home build partner families to kick-start a collaborative small business venture that could significantly improve their household incomes. In addition to working with families, to help them build a safe and secure homes, I AM also provides opportunities for families to improve their household income. In Kadunda village, three of our beneficiary families are neighbours. Edith, our second home build partner, undertook seamstress training in 2022 and since then has been slowly taking on more work locally, making and repairing clothing. We would like to give Harriet & Faith, our two most recent home build partners, the opportunity to undertake the same training as Edith. Not only would we facilitate the training, but would provide the necessary materials and equipment for them to be able to set up at home to begin taking on work. As close neighbours, it may seem counter intuitive to introduce competition into a small community. However, the goal is for the three households to pool their resources and time, to offer their collective services to local schools, to produce school uniforms, most of which are currently bought in from suppliers in the capital city! It's a business opportunity with real prospects, that could help provide all three households with a significant new income stream. If you would like to help with the initial training costs and purchase of materials and equipment, please consider giving on this page. Thank you.
