About
Thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page. This will be the first time I'll have run a half marathon competitively. I've been training to run this distance since last summer. I've been doing well, but had some issues with various injuries that have held me back at times. But I'm determined to help get around 20 young people from the UK to Lesotho in 2018. They'll be working while they are there to help improve the lives, health, and quality of life of the local people. Did you know that around 2 in 5 people in Lesotho live below the poverty line of $1.25 a day? They also have poor quality lives due to subsistence farming, depleting fuel supplies and soil erosion. Even worse, their lives are significantly shortened by lung damage caused by smoke inhalation from cooking. I set a goal in April to run the 13.1 miles (21.1 KM) distance four times. I'm pleased to say that I achieved that objective. My target time will be a personal best of 1hr 45, I'll be pleased to finish under 2 hrs, and I'll be happy if I complete the course in 2hrs 30. Please support me in raising much need cash for a cause that is so important, and often overlooked. The work done to help people of Malealea, Lesotho can improve their lives enormously - sustainable food, fuel and environment. In addition we'll be providing cooking equipment that reduces wood burning and smoke generation, as well as training on it's use. Cheers Simon Thank you for visiting our Givey page.
