About
Thank you for visiting our Givey page. Starting on Saturday 10th January CVSRT team member Stef will be joining fellow Mountain Rescue England and Wales (MREW) colleagues to attempt the Montane Winter Spine MRT Challenger South. The description of the race from the official website is: "The Montane Winter Spine Challenger South is a non-stop, 108 mile race along the Pennine Way. Beginning from Edale in Derbyshire, runners have a time limit of 60 hours to get to the finish at Hawes. The race covers the southern section of the trail which features the iconic moorland of the Kinder Plateau, numerous National Parks, Malham Cove and Pen-y-Ghent. This challenging and technical section is a physically and psychologically demanding route that requires concentration, good physical fitness, resolve and respect. This becomes even more demanding with the full intensity and ferocity of the British Winter in deep snow, storm force winds and driving rain. This is a notoriously difficult event. ”  The race starts at 8am on Saturday 10th January 2026, and you can track Stef's and all the competitors’ progress via the individual trackers that they’ll be carrying (https://thespinerace.com).  Stef will be doing this to raise funds for Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team (CVSRT), and if you would like to support Stef and the team you can do so by visiting the Givey fundraising page.  When you make your donation through Givey, the Charity receives 100% of the donation. Your details are safe with Givey and donating is completely secure. Whatsmore, they never share your email address with any third parties except the Charity you donate to.
