steve hunt is raising £30,000 for Stoke City Community Trust
About
Stoke City Community Trust are delighted to confirm that its hugely popular Big Sleep Out will take place once again in 2023. Next year’s event will be staged at the bet365 Stadium on Friday, February 17, and sponsored for a second consecutive year by Tile Mountain. The charitable initiative encourages supporters and the wider community to help raise awareness of homelessness within the city and its surrounding areas. Participants get first-hand experience of what it’s like to brave the elements overnight as they bed down inside and outside the Franklyn Stand concourse, all whilst raising much-needed funds for local charities. The charities who will benefit in 2023 are The Macari Centre and Stoke City Community Trust. You must be 11 and over to attend, however, if you are under 18, you must be accompanied by an adult/guardian and have parental permission to attend. For those unable to attend, the Community Trust are encouraging people to take part in the Big Sleep Out at home by sleeping in their garden, on their floors, or wherever feels like a challenge! Supporters are encouraged to raise at least £100, with a deposit of £18.63 contributing towards the donation. Adrian Hurst, Head of Community at Stoke City, said: “The Big Sleep Out has become an annual event in a number of people’s calendars, and this year we are keen to make it bigger and better than before. I encourage those that have done it before to do it again and for those who are thinking about it to take the plunge and sign up. Once again, we want to raise awareness and money for the issue of homelessness in Stoke-on-Trent." Mo Iqbal, chairman of Tile Mountain, said: “As a long-standing partner of Stoke City FC, Tile Mountain is delighted to put its support behind this important fundraising initiative for a consecutive year. We are passionate about our home city of Stoke-on-Trent and so to be able to assist in raising awareness of the local charities that this event supports is a privilege. As with 2022, we will be encouraging our team to participate in the Big Sleep Out and help raise vital funds via personal sponsorship.” To sign up to the event or for more information, please email community@stokecityfc.com.
