Ben Taylor is raising £1,000 for The Scottish Association for Mental Health
About
On the 31st May 2015 I'll be flying out to Anchorage Alaska where I'll hop on my bike and start the well over 3000 mile journey south to San Francisco, solo and unsupported. I've taken 3 months unpaid leave from work so as long as I cycle around 36 miles every day for 3 months, all will be well. I thought it was a good opportunity to raise a few pennies for a decent cause. It seems to me that mental health has become an increasing, or perhaps just more publicised issue over the past few years with tragic high profile cases such as the passing of Robin Williams last year. Indeed if you type "biggest cause of death for men under 35" into Google, suicide is the overwhelming response. I originally planned on fundraising for another large mental health charity but just found out that they don't operate in Scotland, which seems the case with other mental health charities. Hence, SAMH are filling an important role and deserve support.
