Gary Jones is raising £200 for The Harry Johnson Trust
About
Throughout 2015 I have decided to fundraise for the Harry Johnson Trust, a charity that offers support to children with cancer receiving care from the Oncology Department and the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford. The Trust was established by Harry’s parents, Sally and Stephen, following his death in 2014. Sally was the head teacher at my children’s former school so we followed Harry’s story closely, and given he was the same age as our eldest son, Jay, the situation understandably has had a profound impact on my personal view on the fragility of life and the privilege of being a parent. I aim to take part in numerous running events throughout 2015 to help raise money for the Trust, namely; Battersea 10k, Market Drayton 10k, Norwich 10k, the Telford Sexarathon series, Chester 1/2 Marathon, Eastridge 1/2 Marathon and Liverpool Full Marathon, and no doubt more will be added to the list in the coming weeks and months. By the end of the year I estimate I should have racked up somewhere in the region of 1200 miles! As if that wasn’t enough, I am also participating in a Tough Mudder event in August, a mere 12 miles in length but interspersed with all manner of appealing obstacles such as; being submerged in ice cold water, crawling through an enclosed structure filled with tear gas and littered with hazards, and a finishing straight that inflicts electric shocks on all of the participants - what better way to spend a Saturday afternoon?
