Wendy Mather is raising £500 for GREAT NORTH AIR AMBULANCE SERVICE
About
On Friday 12th December, my Grandad was knocked down by a car. He sustained life-threatening injuries and required urgent medical assistance. The Great North Air Ambulance were called to the scene. Unfortunately, due to the built up area of the scene, the helicopter could not land. An alternative landing spot was found, but it was too far for the crew members to reach my Grandad by foot, as time was very limited. Amazingly, the crew decided to flag down a bin lorry, who kindly took them to the scene. He was then rushed to the RVI hospital in Newcastle where he was stabilised. My Grandad fought in intensive care for four days, but sadly passed away on Wednesday 17th December. I want to raise money for this amazing charity, because their quick thinking allowed my family (near and far) the chance to spend time with my Grandad in his final days, and say our last goodbye's to him. I am running the Great North Run in September to raise as much as I can for GNAAS and in memory of my wonderful Grandad.
