Melissa Scott is raising £500 for Cystic Fibrosis Trust
About
We are three busy working mums approaching middle age, who have decided to go for it and take on the biggest challenge if our lives so far. We are all running our first marathon on 25th May 2014 in Liverpool. As well as achieving a personal ambition, we hope to raise lots of money for the CF Trust, a wonderful charity that is very close to our hearts as Liz's 18 year old niece and our children's classmate, Chloe Tyrer, both have CF. Chloe, who will be 6 in July was diagnosed with CF shortly after she was born. At just a day old she was rushed to Alder Hey with a swollen stomach and 4 days later blood tests confirmed she had Cystic Fibrosis. The condition involves regular hospital check-ups, daily medicines and physiotherapy to maintain Chloe's well being. Depsite her condition Chloe is a happy, healthy, determined and very strong minded little girl! The CF Trust is the only UK charity who provide practical support for families as well as continuous funding for cutting edge research to improve and develop new treatments alongside "gene therapy" research. The long term goal being to one day find a treatment to beat CF for good. At present there is no known cure for this genetically inherited disease. Please sponsor us on behalf of Chloe and the many others in the UK who live with the condition to help us make a step forward in finding a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.
