What with Lockdown and the absence of any races to focus on, not only has Guy got out of the habit of running, he has also put on rather more weight than even he would have expected over the festival period.

Consequently he has decided to grab the nettle firmly, get off his butt and run 150 miles before Easter and in the process raise much needed funds for Hothouse Theatre’s Accelerated Literacy Project.

Accelerated Literacy is a response to Covid-19, and particularly the loss of school time experienced by the young people Hothouse work with. Hothouse Theatre will be moving the Oh My Nottz online magazine, which is produced by the young people, towards a greater focus on the written word through the production of podcasts, audio stories and items for the magazine.

Covid-19 has put additional pressures on these young people and their families. Having lost ground over the last several months, particularly with literacy, it is unlikely that their families will be able to provide the support needed for them to recover.
