Story
Greetings. Evans the Bear and Mortimer are from the erudite part of the household. Selected using the well-known Bears Ballot Law, they will accompany me in ‘CC on the challenge I have set myself. Despite thinking I really need to stop doing this, I had an idea and that led to thinking, pondering, planning and plotting and before the Bears could make me see sense, I’d entered the Pooley’s Dawn to Dusk Challenge again. My only excuse is that I could try to raise some ££ for BookTrust, which is one charity that aims to promote child literacy by providing real books. For many of us that was a natural part of childhood, but it is no longer the case for far too many now. Literacy is such a fundamental part of life that it is near impossible to imagine life without it. The National Literacy Trust has some worrying research results... My theme, flying here and there, near and far, up and down, is going to provide a challenge that I can abandon at any time, of course, but should I get through it, will total some eight to eight and a half hours flying in a day, over four flights. I’m considering betting against myself, but thought perhaps first I’d throw myself on the overstretched generosity of my understandably few remaining friends. I shall match every pound donated up to £1,000. We can’t take it with us. I find all this most embarrassing, but if I just carry on without the begging bowl, I shall worry about not just weather but what I might have achieved. ‘Changing en route’.
