COVID-19 hasn't just cancelled our races - lockdown has threatened our mental health more than ever, especially those with eating disorders.
In August 2020, I will attempt to run The National 3 Peaks Challenge - climbing the 3 highest peaks in the UK - Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon - and running the entire distance between them. This is approximately 440 miles in under 9 days, which will be the fastest known time if successful. I will be starting on Ben Nevis and finishing on Snowdon without a dedicated support vehicle.
Why? I'm aiming to raise £10,000 for Mind Over Mountains, a charity (pending registration) to restore well-being through life-changing outdoor experiences. Re-connecting with nature and the outdoors has never been more important. Mind Over Mountains use the transformative power of the great outdoors with a holistic approach to develop positive well-being for individuals across the UK, through residential, day and virtual programmes. Bursaries are provided to help people in financial hardship to access these programmes.
£10,000 would fund at least 12 'Reconnect Rambles' programmes, and 150 places for people to benefit from a guided day of hill-walking, virtual coaching and mindfulness. It would also provide bursaries for the unemployed, those on income support and frontline workers to take part. Thanks for your support and to my sponsors Westgrove Group for making this possible. 3peaksrun
