Summer camp experiences for deserving children
Story

Fantastic summer camp experiences, called Superweeks, for deserving children, thanks to fundraising efforts for our sponsorship scheme:The Adventure Appeal. Children who benefit from these opportunities include young carers, disadvantaged children, children in the care system, and children with behavioral and learning difficulties.

Our sponsorship scheme, known as The Adventure Appeal, is designed to allow children from a wide range of backgrounds to be able to attend one of our residential, UK based Superweek summer camps. In 2016 we aim to raise sufficient funds to sponsor 80 children, aged 8 to 14, from UK schools to join the many other hundreds of children who benefit hugely from this experience every year.

First and foremost we seek to enable children to be children, and we spend our time on a Superweek playing, making new friends and having a LOT of fun. We are fairly certain we are unique within the UK for the kind of holiday experience we set out to provide.

A Superweek is a safe place from which a child can launch themselves into the unknown, whilst all the time discovering and learning ever more new things. On a Superweek children meet children they wouldn’t have otherwise met, and try activities they would otherwise avoid.

ATE believes that children deserve the opportunity to spend a week being themselves, having fun, away from the distractions and pressures of their hectic current lives.

Parents often remark on a growth in self confidence, self assurance, consideration of others, maturity, positive self identity, improved social skills, physical and thinking skills, and positive values with which their child returns home.

ATE is an educational body, with many teachers amongst our Directing body, and who guide the way in which the organisation continues to develop. These people are acutely aware of the value of these holidays to all children, and in the absence of any Government funding, have moved to establish a dedicated sponsorship scheme to allow children who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford a Superweek, the opportunity to enjoy this unique experience.
