Allen Pocock is raising $500 for British Heart Foundation
About
As most of you will know on April 25th 2015, whilst running, I suffered a cardiac arrest and my life was saved by the CPR that was administered by four other runners, an air ambulance flight and fantastic treatment at Coventry Hospital. I was unbelievably lucky and am incredibly grateful to so many people. Fortunately, I seem to have made a good recovery and am now running and cycling once again ... albeit more slowly! When, after five weeks, I was discharged from the hospital I promised myself that, if I ever could, I would try another endurance event and raise money for the British Heart Foundation. I had already entered the RideLondon 100 mile cycle event (31st July 2016) when my kind daughter and her family entered me into the Norfolk 100 mile Cycle Sportive (24th July 2016). Two 100 milers in 8 days will be a challenge but knowing that I will be raising money for such a good cause will certainly help. Many people I know, including very good friends, have had heart problems and it seems that raising money for the BHF is a very appropriate thing for me to do. People have always been very generous before when I have tried to raise money for charity and I am sincerely hoping that, once again, this will be the case ... for obvious reasons a heart charity seems very special to me now. Thank you, Allen.
