Historia

Friends of Education Africa was established in 2009 to support the advancement of education in South Africa, and to contribute to the alleviation of poverty through these efforts. We fulfill these objectives through working together with a South African charity, Education Africa.

Education Africa is a South African non-profit organization that has had more than 18 years of experience working together with disadvantaged communities to address the legacy of inequality left behind by Apartheid. The organisation currently runs 9 programs that address the various educational needs of South African children today, through providing newly built school facilities, training teachers, and offering scholarships.

The majority of the projects operate in peri-urban settlements (townships), as well as remote rural areas where government services are still insufficient. Although target beneficiaries are disadvantaged children, several of our projects also provide support and training to parents and teachers to ensure sustainability of our endeavors.
