Last year we had a successful fund-raising campaign which allowed the MCA to run a twice-weekly Community Hub. We have hosted 66 Community Hub sessions to date, welcoming 1,365 visitors. Our Community Hub continues to be a highly valued service, offering simple lunches and companionship weekly.

The main objective remains to empower the community to combat the cost-of-living crisis, build supportive relationships, reduce isolation, and promote inclusion. The MCA Knitting Group which operates during the Community Hub has been ever so popular due to beautiful Christmas Post Box cover which was displayed during the month of December 2023 by Mortlake Train Station. The group has been approached by the Barnes Children’s Literature Festival in 2024 to create a “The Tiger Who Came To Tea” post box cover to mark the 10th anniversary of the festival. These creative postbox covers have significantly raised the profile of MCA. In June 2024 we launched a Chess Corner, led by the Chair of West London Chess Club. They meet during the Community Hub once a month.

MCA remains committed to the Mortlake Community Hub project as it enables us to more positively influence the lives of people in our community; to hear first-hand from our users; identify their needs and meet them. Timi Fabian is running the Kew 10km to raise funds for the Community Hub.
