Grace Jackson and Matt Hansom is raising £0 for EMERGENCY - Life Support for Civilian War Victims, UK
About
Hi Everyone, We believe EMERGENCY, the medical relief NGO are a great charity to donate money to on our behalf for our wedding, as it has been an aspiration of Grace's to work for EMERGENCY. EMERGENCY is an independent and neutral humanitarian organisation that provides free, high quality, medical and surgical treatment to the victims of war, landmines and poverty. In accordance with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights EMERGENCY recognises the "right to be cured" as a basic and inalienable right. Since 1994, EMERGENCY has treated 6 million patients. There is more information at www.emergencyuk.org. They currently have active programmes in Afghanistan, Central African Republic, Iraq, Sudan and Sierra Leone. Most notably in EMERGENCY's involvement in the current Ebola epidemic in West Africa. EMERGENCY is currently running a 22 bedded Ebola Treatment Centre (ETC) in Lakka, on the outskirts of Freetown, Sierra Leone's capital. The centre, which opened on the 18 September 2014 is helping contain and manage Ebola in West Africa. It is currently running at full capacity. EMERGENCY's second Ebola Treatment Centre opened just before Christmas 2014 and has 100 beds. It is part of the British Government's response to Ebola. EMERGENCY has been one of the only charities that have worked with the British Government to set up substantial treatment facilities for Ebola. Donations are completely optional and can be made anonymously. Love Grace and Matt.
