About
Hello,

Not sure how this happened but I am going to attempt to walk 25 miles (just short of a marathon!) between Birrmingham and Lichfield to support the work of Joy Butler Markham and her charity Manacare. The charity pays for her orphanage in Sri Lanka following the 2004 Tsunami (which in Sri Lanka killed 35,000 people and left 900,000 homeless), and for the care of children with special needs. Every penny raised goes directly to where it is needed.

The walk is supposed to take 9 hours but may take longer depending on how well I do with the training! I had a stroke at the start of February, and am doing my best to recover my strength and get back to a new level of normality. I hope there won’t be any lasting effects, but it has knocked me emotionally and for the moment at least I am physically knackered at the least sign of exercise! Of course, with the help of the rest of the Spice team I will train and walk as far as I can. This is an amazing charity, which doesn’t waste any of the donations on advertising or management costs.

I also promise to double whatever I raise (gulp) so DIG DEEP!

Big thanks to everyone who supports me.

Jem x
